drug therapy for hyperprolactinemia

In cases of reduced fertility characterized by the over-production of the hormone prolactin (hyperprolactinemia), then the cause will first be established. If prolactinoma (benign tumours on the pituitary gland) is discounted, medicines can be prescribed to suppress the production of prolactin. For this, bromocriptine is frequently used.
